'The power of context, indite by Malcolm Gladwell, discussââ¬â¢ many different social commute theories such as the ââ¬Å" broken in Windows surmisalââ¬Â, ââ¬Å"Tipping transportsââ¬Â and the ââ¬Å" origin of Context theoryââ¬Â. All of these theories were researched and studies performed to prove that we be influenced by the features of our immediate social and physical world, these determine who we ar and how we act.\r\nThese theories throw away been seen in every offset of town, Graffiti painted buildings and broken windows in unoccupied houses. Where there are news paper articles written about the few that have taken the endeavor to turn their neighborhood around. Where neighbors rally to paint everywhere graffiti, fix broken windows, make a cat valium where once was a gang hangout. Where as hapless as it may seem, most of the children fit into the definition of the four youths who attempted to mug Goetz December 22 ,1984.\r\nWhere Goetz was dubbed the ââ¬Å"Subway Vigilanteââ¬Â after fighting prat against he would be muggers, shooting them in the vacuum tube and later being acquitted on charges of plunder and attempted murder. Goetzââ¬â¢ case has become a token of a particular, dark moment in crude York City history, the moment when the cityââ¬â¢s annoyance problem reached epidemic proportions or the ââ¬Å"Tipping Pointââ¬Â.\r\nThe ââ¬Å"Tipping Pointââ¬Â where in epidemiology the ââ¬Å"tipping pointââ¬Â is the moment when a computer virus reaches critical mass. Gladwell links these would have been muggers and the shooting to other theory, one that would change the atmosphere and quite mayhap the culture of the neighborhood the thugs came from. The ââ¬Å"Broken Window Theoryââ¬Â was the brainchild of the criminalogistics James Q Wilson and George Kelling. Wilson and Kelling argued that ââ¬Å"crime is the inevitable resolvent of disorder.\r\nIf a window is broken and left unrepaired, battalion walking by entrust conclude that no one cares and no one is in charge. Soon, much windows will be broken, and the sense of anarchy will spread from the building to the street on which it faces, send a signal that anything goes. In a city, relatively minor problems like graffiti, public disorder, and aggressive panhandling, they write, are all the equivalent of broken windows, invitations to more practiced crimes.ââ¬Â (Gladwell, 237)\r\nThe ââ¬Å"Power of Contextââ¬Â theory that Gladwell writes about and the ââ¬Å"Broken Windows Theoryââ¬Â are one and the equivalent We have all heard the saying, ââ¬Å"You are what you eatââ¬Â. The same would be legitimate in you are what you put out yourself with. I tincture that the ââ¬Å"Power of Contextââ¬Â is true in the context that if you live in a home you are proud of, you will be more confident in your self worth.\r\nIf you butt yourself with people more intelligent than yourself, you will outgrowth your mental a ptitude. Those that set goals and stick to them seem to carry through more than those who never set goals. I feel that Gladwell did a great job in personifying the theories and line of reasoning their relevance.\r\nWorks Cited\r\nGladwell, Malcolm. Gladwell, Malcolm. The Power of Context.
